Journey into Yoga
My journey into yoga began whilst living in Liverpool, at a studio which channelled my interest in movement for wellbeing through the philosophy and physical benefits of traditional yoga practices. Having studied and worked as a dancer for most of my life, yoga became part of my life as a way to use movement for the self rather than performance. A trip or two to India and Indonesia were where the spiritual aspects of the practice came alive for me and I was hooked!
Since then, I have completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali, Indonesia with east+west yoga, one of the leading teacher training centres in the world. I have completed further training in Children’s Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Relax Kids, and I am currently undertaking my Pregnancy Teacher Training. All of my teaching masters were from India, studying traditional Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, derived from Patanjali’s ancient and historical yoga sutras.
I love to help people feel comfortable enough to enjoy the practice of Yoga. I myself have a few issues with my joints and inflammation in the body, which mean I am passionate not only about practicing yoga to keep the body safe and healthy, but also about getting those that don’t think they can….onto the mat!
dance movement psychotherapy
I am a Dance Movement Psychotherapist (RDMP) having completed a three year Masters degree at the University of Roehampton in London, which holds the Centre for International Research in the Arts and Play Therapies.
Over the last 10 years of my career I have worked mostly with the most vulnerable people in our society, and have a passion for giving people an opportunity to process and manage the difficulties life throws at us. The body and mind are not separate and I use the body as a tool for communication and to help understand the self.
