Yoga

Patanjali was an Indian sage believed to have created the Yoga Sutras, a series of texts which have shaped the yogic practice across thousands of years. Patanjali states: Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha - Yoga is sensation of the mind. Yoga is the stilling of the mind until it rests in a state of total and utter tranquility, so that we experience life as it is: as reality, in the present moment.

Yoga and Meditation are for everyone. The modern western world has a way of pushing yoga into a competitive fitness mindset. Traditional yoga practices teach us that it is a science of body and mind, to practice is simply, moving in order to be still. A good yoga practice is about finding your bliss.

By working with this traditional method, and implementing an emphasis on the therapeutic benefits of yoga, my classes are accessible for anyone. I have a special interest in bringing classes to those who are hesitant to try yoga or meditation.

My classes emphasise the importance of meditation and wellbeing, with guidance on how postures can be therapeutic to both the body and mind.

I aim to teach my students awareness of their body within postures, how to listen to what is going on inside and bring this into not just their practice but their everyday lives.

Current classes include:

Mondays

Vinyasa - 6.30-7.30pm

A sequence of postures linked with the breath. This class is suitable for beginners.

Restorative Relaxation- 7.45-8.45pm

30 minutes of gentle restorative yoga postures/stretches, followed by 30 minutes of guided meditation and a sound bath. Suitable for beginners.

Tuesdays

Vinyasa Flow - Deep Stretch 6.15-7.15pm

A fast paced sequence, flowing from one posture to the next. Upbeat music, candlelit  atmosphere. Suitable for those who have an existing yoga practice & love to work up a sweat!

Thursdays

Energising Stretch and Flow - 9.15-10.15am

This class is perfect for anyone wanting to add a calmer practice to their exercise routine. This 60 minute class will offer deep stretches, some gentle sequenced postures allowing time to really get into the stretch whilst building some heat/energy within the body. Ending with a blissful relaxation & sound bath that will send you off feeling refreshed for the rest of your day. This class is suitable for beginners as variations of each posture will be given.
